The perfect partner for directional drilling in mining: MEMS Directional Module For Mining Well-Trajectory Measurement Device

Mining trajectory measuring instruments are key equipment for capturing drill string attitude and recording borehole trajectory during directional drilling operations. They are mainly used in directional drilling projects such as coal mine gas extraction, water hazard control, and geological exploration.

The ER-MNS-09 MEMS Directional Module serves as the core component of the trajectory measuring instrument, providing high-precision azimuth and attitude sensing capabilities. It achieves accurate azimuth reference determination through non-magnetic north-finding, and its cylindrical design adapts to confined installation spaces, allowing the trajectory measuring instrument to stably output key parameters such as drill string pitch, roll, and azimuth angles in complex downhole environments. This provides accurate raw data for subsequent trajectory calculation and real-time control.

Technical characteristics adapted to mine trajectory measuring instruments

The ER-MNS-09 adopts a strapdown inertial measurement architecture with a three-axis MEMS gyroscope and a three-axis MEMS accelerometer, precisely matching the technical requirements of mine trajectory measuring instruments.

Non-magnetic North-finding Measurement

The accuracy of the azimuth reference is fundamental to trajectory measurement. The ER-MNS-09 abandons the traditional geomagnetic north-finding method, equipped with a navigation-grade MEMS gyroscope capable of self-north-finding. It calculates the geographic true north direction by measuring the Earth's rotation component, completely eliminating reliance on the geomagnetic field and thus completely avoiding the impact of strong magnetic interference downhole on measurement accuracy. Its azimuth measurement accuracy can reach 0.5°~1° (1σ), and attitude accuracy ≤0.2° (1σ), providing high-precision raw attitude data for the trajectory measuring instrument and ensuring the accuracy of subsequent trajectory calculation.

Miniaturized Design

Mining trajectory measuring instruments need to be integrated inside the probe tube of drilling equipment for close-to-the-drill-bit installation to minimize trajectory measurement lag. Therefore, stringent requirements are placed on the size and shape of the core components. The ER-MNS-09 adopts an irregular cylindrical design, offering three diameter specifications: Φ30mm, Φ25.4mm, and Φ18.6mm, with a uniform length of 120mm and a weight of ≤150g. It allows for flexible selection based on the probe tube size of different trajectory measuring instrument models, easily embedding into the narrow space at the probe tube front for close-to-the-drill-bit installation.

All-Solid-State Structure Resistant to Harsh Working Conditions

Impact vibration and temperature fluctuations in coal mines are significant factors affecting the stability of trajectory measuring instruments. The ER-MNS-09 employs an all-solid-state design with a built-in internal platform, significantly enhancing its impact and vibration resistance. This section is available in standard and high-temperature versions. The standard version operates at temperatures from 5 to +55℃, while the high-temperature version reaches 5 to +125℃, adapting to different temperature environments at varying depths and in different areas underground. This prevents measurement accuracy degradation due to temperature changes, ensuring stable operation of the trajectory measuring instrument under all working conditions.
