Position & Orientation System (POS) integrates DGPS(Differential GPS) technology and inertial navigation System (INS) technology to obtain the spatial Position and triaxial positioning information of moving objects, which is widely used in the navigation and positioning of aircraft, ships and missiles.
POS mainly includes two parts, namely GPS signal receiver and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), also known as GPS/IMU integrated system. At present, there are two kinds of POS systems in commercial use. One is the POS AV system developed by Applanix. The other is the AEROcontrol system developed by IGI, a German company.
