An Inertial Navigation System (INS) is an advanced navigation technology that calculates the position, velocity, attitude, and heading of a vehicle or platform without relying on external signals such as GPS or GNSS.

An INS mainly consists of inertial sensors, including gyroscopes and accelerometers. The gyroscope measures angular motion, while the accelerometer detects linear acceleration. By continuously collecting and processing these motion data, the INS can calculate the movement trajectory and provide accurate navigation information.

Unlike GPS-based navigation systems, an INS can operate independently in environments where satellite signals are unavailable, blocked, or interfered with, such as underground areas, indoor environments, underwater operations, and military applications.
