The First 052D Guided Missile Destroyer Of The North Sea Fleet

The “Xining” (ship number 117) of this naval ship-type inspection ship belongs to the Chinese Navy 052D destroyer. According to public reports, on January 22, 2017, the Xining ship entered the name-bearing ceremony at a military port terminal in Qingdao Jungang, Shandong Province, with a ship number of 117, which marked the official entry of the ship into the People’s Navy battle sequence. It is understood that the Xining ship is also the first 052D missile destroyer to be assembled by the North Sea Fleet.

The No. 117 Xining ship is the second Chinese navy to use the name of the “Xining” ship. It is understood that the first generation of the Chinese Navy’s domestic guided missile destroyer (051 type) 108 was named after the Xining ship. The ship served in the North Sea Fleet on January 29, 1980 and retired in 2013. After the first generation of Xining ships were officially handed over to the “Navy Mother City” in Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province, they took on the new mission of national defense education. The ship has a cumulative range of more than 200,000 nautical miles and a navigation time of 13,824 hours. It has successfully completed more than 50 major tasks such as war preparation patrols and drills. More than 20 times on behalf of the country accompanied foreign warships to visit foreign military officers and visiting guests. It has won dozens of honors such as the “four no” advanced units of the Navy and the advanced units of the navy.
