China's First Mars Exploration Mission

On June 11, the China National Space Administration unveiled the first batch of Mars images taken by the Zhurong Mars rover, marking the success of the country’s Mars mission. Three pictures taken by Zhurong displayed a panoramic view of the landing site, the surrounding terrain and the landing platform. Another photo shot by a second camera deployed by Zhurong on Martian soil, showed the rover and the landing platform together.

Tianwen 1 was launched by a Long March 5 heavy-lift carrier rocket on July 23 in 2020 from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in Hainan province, kick-starting China's first mission to Mars.
