China Tianzhi No. 1 Satellite Autonomous Request-controlled In-orbit Test Successfully

It was learned from the Software Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that China’s first experimental satellite, Tianzhi No. 1, which was specifically used to verify the key technologies of software-defined satellites, has recently successfully carried out autonomous request-based control experiments in orbit. This is of great significance for improving the satellite’s ability to operate autonomously and exploring new measurement and control systems.

After the Tianzhi No. 1 satellite was launched in November 2018, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Software Institute, Xi’an Satellite Measurement and Control Center, and the Institute of Microsatellite Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences continued to carry out joint research on new technologies and new tests based on the satellite. From January 7th to March 17th, 2019, the self-requested control experiments jointly carried out by the three units were successful, mainly verifying the autonomous on-board real-time orbit determination, high-precision orbit extrapolation, orbital out-of-tolerance judgment and on-demand grounding. Preliminary results have been obtained by sending service requests and so on.
