Astronauts Hold Various Events To Celebrate China Aerospace Day

On the morning of the 24th, the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center organized scientific and technical personnel to the No. 2 Dongfanghong Satellite Launch Site to hold the 50th anniversary of the successful launch of the “Dongfanghong No. 1” satellite and the relay mission of the space battle flag.

On April 24, 1970, the older generation of astronauts successfully sent the “Dongfanghong-1” satellite into space under the extremely harsh natural environment, extremely weak technical foundation, and extremely simple facilities and equipment, which blew China The horn of the nation marching towards the universe.

Over the past 50 years, the launch tower of that year, after years of baptism, still stands proudly in the vast Gobi. Here, 83-year-old retired train driver Wu Hengjin deeply reviewed the historical moment of his participation in the “Dongfanghong-1” satellite launch mission, encouraging young astronauts to continue the red blood, inherit the fine traditions, and create more brilliant aerospace achievements.
