What Are MEMS Gyroscope Calibration?

Each gyroscope is rigorously tested for performance and calibrated for sensitivity and zero rate output values before delivery. However, when the gyroscope is assembled on a printed circuit board, the zero-rate output and sensitivity may deviate slightly from the factory calibration values due to mechanical or welding stresses. For applications such as game consoles and remote controls, designers can convert gyroscope measurements into angular rates using the typical zero rate and sensitivity parameters in the data sheet. For demanding applications, designers need to recalibrate the gyroscope’s zero-rate output value, sensitivity, and the following important parameters:

Misalignment (also known as cross-axis sensitivity)

Linear acceleration sensitivity or G-sensitivity

Long-term operation deviation stability

On – on deviation stability

Deviation and sensitivity drift after long working hours
