The North Seeking Principle of Fiber Optic Gyroscope

Fiber optic gyro is a new solid-state gyro based on Sagnac effect, is a kind of inertial measurement unit without mechanical components, has the advantages of shock resistance, high sensitivity, long service life, low power consumption, integrated and reliable, is a new generation of inertial strapdown inertial navigation system in ideal.

In application of fiber optic gyro based on north seeking, most of the methods using FOG rotating fixed angle, angle offset is calculated by determining the relative direction of the north. In order to accurately refer to the north, it is necessary to eliminate the drift of FOG. Generally, a rotating platform is shown in Figure 1. The fiber optic gyro is placed on the moving base, and the moving base plane is parallel to the horizontal plane. The sensitive axis of the fog is parallel to the moving base plane. When the north is north, the gyroscope is in position 1, and the sensitive axis of the gyroscope is parallel to the carrier. The direction angle of the initial hypothesis of fiber optic gyro sensitive axis and the north direction for alpha. The output value of the gyroscope at position 1 is Omega 1; then the base seat is rotated 90 degrees, and the output value of the gyroscope is Omega 2 in the 2 position. Turn two times 90 degrees in turn, turn to the position of 3 and 4, and get angular velocity Omega 3 and Omega 4
